Paramecium. When I was in second grade - Mrs. Davis' class - we made a craft where we shaved crayons and then melted the shavings between two pieces of waxed paper with an iron. I think (hope) adults were in charge of the ironing part. Later on I started to refer to my 8 inch beloved piece of art as my "paramecium" because it closely resembles a protozoa. I insist on proudly displaying it on our Christmas tree every year. My children insist that it be hung on the back of the tree- oblivious to the true beauty of this creative piece. However, today I received a little validation. It seems that in her Biology lab, Paige peered through a microscope and laid eyes on a real Paramecium! She now appreciates the true artistry and vision that her mother demonstrated at such a young age. It is my prediction that this special ornament will make its way to the front of the tree next year!
