Europe Travel Day - PJs Preferred

Today Don, my sister Debby and I set off for our day of travel. We are headed to my sister Barb’s home in Strambino, Italy. Our flight was non-stop to Munich, Germany and didn’t leave DIA until 8:20pm which is a perfect time for a ten hour flight to Europe. My plan and I stuck to it was to eat the gourmet(?) airline dinner, drink some wine and sleep the rest of the way…well, most of the way because I had to wake up for breakfast!

Our next flight was short from Munich to Turin, Italy. Turin, known by Italians as Torino, is only about 40 miles from my sister’s home in the small town of Strambino. This is in the Piemonte region which is the northern part of the country. My sister and her husband Antonio were at the airport to greet us and haul all of our luggage. Try as I might, I have not mastered minimalist packing. I’m hoping that steam trunks will come back in fashion. By the time we left the airport it was five in the afternoon so we missed most of Thursday!

The last time Don and I visited my sister and family was in 2011. It is great to see everyone again, especially our new great niece, Lara, who was born only one week ago to our nephew, Francesco and partner, Daniela. So sweet and tiny! To top off the day, Antonio made us a delicious mushroom risotto served with Daniela’s eggplant Parmesan. Welcome to Italy!
