There is a Reason Why It’s Green Here!

 Myrtle Beach Day 1:

We woke up to rain this morning. However, thanks to weather apps, we expected it so we didn’t plan anything special today. The weather cleared enough to explore the Myrtle beach itself. I was surprised that there weren’t any restaurants on the beach. - just tons of hotels and condos. Once you walk down to the beach it is very expansive and I can only imagine the amount of people during the summer, I admired the handfull of beach goers who were braving the strong winds and trying to make the best of it. We found some mimosas instead…

Later we drove to North Myrtle Beach. We didn’t even make it out of the car before we were hit by a torrential thunderstorm. “Coming down in buckets” was an appropriate description because it just seemed like someone was throwing buckets of water at our windshield. It was very hard to see.

The Storm cleared out by this evening and we were able to enjoy happy hour on our deck. We later made it south to the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk which was a much better place to enjoy the ocean. There were many restaurants on the beach and you can take a nice stroll on the boardwalk (which is actually made out of recycled plastic jugs) to see the ocean along the way. We ended up at one of our friend Jimmy Buffets’s restaurants called Land Shark. The only way to enjoy seafood is right next to where it came from!

Nice beach but clouds are abrewing!

Hold onto your hat! Windy day!

Happy Hour!

Nice evening on the Boardwalk!

Thanks Jimmy!

We need to Ride this! It’s not really crooked!

Hello Myrtle Beach, South Carolina!

We finally arrived to sunny Myrtle Beach last night after having a soggy, cold and gloomy layover in Newark, New Jersey. The bright side was that we had some great New York style pizza in the airport!

We are not traveling light by any means since we decided to bring our golf clubs with us. Of course I didn’t cut back on my usual overpacking either! Fortunately it all fit into our rental car.

Our hotel is not far from Broadway on the Beach which is a large tourist attraction which has amusement park rides, tons of souvenier shops and restaurants. After walking around and taking it all in, we settled on some southern food…while in Rome!

Homemade pizza in an airport?! Yes please!

Long lines for the car rental!

Lots of luggage!
